Can we really dance with Jesus and be that close?

Can we really dance with Jesus and be that close?

Before we even get this in our head, remember everything in Heaven and in communing with God is Spiritual.  It is not carnal.  So don’t even go there, God is pure, Jesus is pure, Holy Spirit is pure, there is not one unclean thought in Heaven.  So every communication we have with GOD, any part of the Trinity is HOLY & PURE.

We are coming into His presence through worship of Him in spirit and in truth.

Having said that, let’s go to the most graphic description of God’s embrace:

4  He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.
5  Stay me with raised cakes, comfort me with apples: for I am sick of love.
6  His left hand is under my head, and his right hand doth embrace me.
Song of Solomon 2:4

How much closer can Jesus get?  Remember, this is a spiritually pure relationship unlike what we have between man and woman on earth for the purpose of reproduction.  This certainly is the picture of intimacy.  Again, this is not about sex, but the intimate embrace of God.  This is Scripture, commonly accepted by all scholars as Jesus’ Song to His Bride.

2“May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine.”
Song of Solomon 1

Let’s not distort Holy Scripture by inferring that it is impure.   3But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. 4Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. Ephesians 5

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.”  John 6:63

So how close is close when you are living with someone?  When we grew up with our parents, under their constant guidance (if we had loving parents) they shared in every aspect of our lives.  They saw the good, the bad and the ugly about us, but they continued to raise us into adulthood.  They held us when we cried they danced with us when we married, they even let us cuddle up next to them in bed when we had nightmares.
Should God be any different?  Should He be less of a comfort to us than our parents who are mere humans.

Most people stumble over dancing with God because they are thinking in the flesh, they are thinking sexual thoughts about 2 bodies being close. But it is obvious here that the relationship is spiritual not carnal.

But does He rejoice over us with singing?  Does He dance with us?  Does He laugh and share in our sorrows?   We find this scattered throughout His Holy Scriptures:

“As a young man marries a young woman,  so will your Builder marry you;
as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride,  so will your God rejoice over you.”
Isaiah 62:5

Zeph. 3:17 – “rejoice over you” – literally means “dance, skip, leap, and spin around in joy.” God dances with shouts of joy over us!   How can any of us resist that invitation while in worship?  This is like our father dancing with us at our wedding ceremony.  Not a hint of uncleanness, rather it is pure celebration over our marriage.

“Rejoice” is translated from a Hebrew word that Strongs defines as:

A primitive root; properly to spin around (under the influence of any violent emotion), that is, usually rejoice… : – be glad, joy, be joyful, rejoice.

The Hebrew word means to “spin around under violent emotion,” or basically to dance. So Zep 3:17 is more accurately translated as,

“Yahweh your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His Love,  He will dance over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17

Now we can address what goes on in the spiritual realm when we are visited by Jesus or taken to Heaven.  Heaven is a place of continual rejoicing.   Some people are quite confused when they hear that someone claims to have been in the presence of God the Father, or danced in Heaven with Jesus. But these Scriptures clearly show there is an intimacy between Jesus that can only be described in Scripture as the Espousal relationship.

There are four places in the New Testament that refer to the “holy kiss”—Romans 16:16; 1 Corinthians 16:20; 2 Corinthians 13:12; and 1 Thessalonians 5:26. In each instance, the Greek words denote a kiss which is sacred—physically pure and morally blameless. It was a common custom in most nations for people to kiss each other at meeting or parting to display their love, sincere affection, and friendship for each other. The kiss is called “holy” to distinguish it from a sexual one and from a hypocritical and deceitful one, such as Joab gave to Amasa (2 Samuel 20:9) or such as Judas gave to Jesus when he cried, “Hail Rabbi,” and betrayed Him into the hands of His enemies (Matthew 26:49).

In New Testament times, the holy kiss was a sign of greeting, much like the modern handshake. For Christians, it further expressed brotherly love and unity. The holy kiss was especially precious to the new believers during the early church years, because they were often outcasts from their own families because of their new faith. These new believers gloried in the new spiritual kinship they had found among other Christians. Furthermore, the holy kiss from a Jewish Christian to a Gentile believer was evidence that the Gentiles were accepted fully into Christian fellowship, despite the teachings of the Judaizers, those who would return to the Mosaic law as their source of justification. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. Psalm 2:12

There is neither male nor female , sexually speaking, in the Body of Christ/Kingdom of Heaven. The Word of God uses male/female interchangeably. 1peter says we would be inwardly made into a new order Priesthood. That means men and women in the Body of Christ.. Paul says in Ephesians 4:23-25 that we must renew our minds and put on the ”new man” which is the Bride…” So that the Scriptures prove over & over that there is neither male nor female but we are regarded as sons of God and yet we’re the Bride of Christ. Paul understood it and wrote nearly the whole book of Ephesians concerning this.
